UZI Africa is the working title of an upcoming documentary that sets out to illustrate the ongoing mobile phone craze in Africa, particularly in Zanzibar. Its intention is to present moving images of contemporary Africa with focus on people's lifestyles, popular culture, habits, activities and opinions in the context of mobile technology usage. The movie portraits individuals from all segments of society: students, rappers, teachers, athletes, vendors, watchmen and many more. What they all have in common is that they are connected and have unique stories to tell. Contrasts, strong visuals and a cool soundtrack will present these issues and, in a broader sense, raise the awareness of the ICT4D movement.
